Another born as another dies
Plugged In – 25th June 1985
Back from work, through the door
Wife and kids are there for sure
Dinners wafting thru’ the hall
Turning off……forget it all
Kiss from kids, ‘hi’ from wife
Dinner’s ready, this is the life
All is eaten, everything gone
Sit down, plug in……..telly’s on
Tea in hand, refreshing drink
Eyes on the box can’t afford to blink
Sit back and relax, without a care
Turning off……let down your hair
Nodding off to the background blur
Resistance weakened, you won’t stir
But a monster jumps right out of the screen
Waking up, fuck……it was only a dream
Telly’s still on, watch if for a bit
Someone dead, couldn’t give a shit
It’s more than you deserve you fucking creep
Keep up the payments….. and go back to sleep
Freak – 18th June 1985
Walking down the street
Freak everyone you meet
They all turn and stare
As you pull out your hair
Never admit defeat
You’re such a freak
Kissing every stranger
Pretend you’re Lone Ranger
People pass you by
You tear out your eye
You always creak
You’re such a freak
You’ll be there at the end
Freak – you are my friend
Yesterday – 10th June 1985
Yesterday my friend hung herself
She wanted the life of someone else
Lost in a world without any hope
She saw the future and couldn’t cope
That was yesterday
She left a note by her bed
Describing the thoughts in her head
‘Mother, everything’s falling apart
Please look on this as a new start”
That was yesterday
Yesterday I thought she was fine
I understood that she wanted time
But today is there any more?
What does the future hold in store?
Peter Shook His Head – 7th June 1985
Is she dead?
Peter shook his head
Just as she wakes
Peter’s head shakes
Millions of miles
Peter’s face smiles
She started to shake and cough
Cos Peter shook his head off
18th Sept 2023 – inspired by The Shock-Headed Peters, though just their name, not their words in particular.
Here He Comes – 16th May 1985
Here he comes
Walking through your door
Here he comes
The man of more
Here he comes
The man of sin
Here he comes
Mr. Out-on-a-limb
Sharp End First – 9th May 1985
Will they teach you how to sell yourself?
Or can you do it anyway?
Will you listen to anything that’s said?
Have you got anything to say?
Questions, questions
What’s it all about?
Is there any answer
To our doubt?
Will you learn to suck up to yourself?
Are you scared of our words?
Can you hear what you are saying?
Is there something to be heard?
Questions, questions
Always in doubt
The meaning of life
What’s it all about?
Can you accept the morals of now?
Can you accept the moment?
Are you spending time wasting away?
Do you remember the time you spent?
15th Sep 2024 – This ended up as a Hate That Smile lyric which can be heard here with my straining 22-year-old voice struggling to find a tune.
New Day Rises – 5th May 1985
Arise
Surprise
Dawn breaks
The earth quakes
Everything alive
To see the new day arrive
Wake up
Get outside
New day rises
It has arrived
Dripfeed – 24th April 1985
Hospitalised
Sanitised
New creed
Dripfeed
Tubes running
Viens pumping
Heart gunning
Eyes jumping
Hospitalised
Decentralised
New breed
Dripfeed
Hospitalised
Paralysed
Drip fed
Half dead
Dead head
In bed
I bleed
Dripfeed
