Everywhere you go people just look the same
An idea of sex is usually found in their name
What’s going on? Just tell me the score
You can’t tell the girls from the boys anymore

Fifty – 22nd February 1988
Half a century gone
Have I another to come?
Fifty years and nothing’s changed
Everything just seems the same
New surroundings, same old shit
Another fifty years? Forget it!
Woods – 21st February 1988
Play in the woods in my backyard
Concrete streets are too rough and hard
Fall in the softness of the grass
Saving you from a painful arse
They came and cut down my lovely wood
Destroyed everything they could
New houses where they needn’t be
They didn’t leave a single tree
Everything, I guess, must take its toll
The trees ended up as toilet roll
Twenty Pence – 20th February 1988
You stop me in the street
Like everyone you meet
“Lend us twenty pence, mate”
But you’re in such a state
You complain that I couldn’t give a shit
I’d give you twenty pence
If I thought you were worth it
These Visions – 19th February 1988
You’re sitting at home
These visions in your head
You’re all alone
With your mind just full of dread
You start to wonder
Why it’s like it was before
You’re going under
In your own personal war
All you’ve got are these memories
Repeated visions of what you’ve done
I can’t help you if you’re not telling me
You start to wonder where it’s all gone
Depressing your ego
With visions of the past
You won’t let me go
And that’s all I ask
Your time’s been wasted
Trying to repeat all the good times
It’s me that you hated
But you kept ignoring all the signs
All you’ve got are these twisted visions
Repetition, repetition of what you’ve done
I can’t help you make your decision
Strange to be nostalgic when you’re only 21*
*lifted word for word from the Partisans ‘Only 21’ – because it’s a great line!
Logic – 18th February 1988
Don’t tell me about logic
I got ten fingers I can count
Don’t confuse me with long words
Just go ahead and spit it out
You say logic is to maintain ease
Will someone explain what you mean, please?
Next To Nothing – 17th February 1988
Standing next to nothing
Makes me look so good
I would give everything
You know that, if I could
Next to nothing is all I had
But that’s all you can take away
Nothing multiplied to make even more
Now there’s nothing else to say
Changes – 16th February 1988
Certain changes come
Just like the seasons
Just as easy to predict
But difficult to see reasons
You changed from a swelter
And led me to find shelter
I could see the changes come
But waited until you were done
Hard now to find a reason
Cos you will change again next season
Budweiser – 15th February 1988
My friend drank ten pints
That was just an appetiser
He went to the bog to puke
Now my buddy is wiser
Tease – 14th February 1988
All the time I knew you
You gave me an aim to please
But now I see it’s true
You were just a prick tease
