Guided By Voices – Newtown RSL, Newtown, Sydney, Australia – 26th February 2000

Apparently, GBV played here on Friday and Saturday and I’m guessing that I was at the Saturday night show, as I was with TLJ and her sister, N_ was there with friends too, and she was still in high school. I guess that doesn’t really discount that it could have been the Friday night show. I don’t know if there was a support band at this show or not. I do remember being in front of the stage pogoing with TLJ, N_ and their friends, though. Pretty sure the song was ‘I Am A Tree’.

After the show, TLJ and I hung out at The Town Hall Hotel, where the band also ended up. At one point, you went to the bathroom and discovered all of the band squashed into a stall, hoovering up various substances. You snuck TLJ in and lifted her up to look in on them, too! Later, they all signed her belly and the next day you went to work and she hopped onto the photocopier, where we took a copy as a keepsake! It was a very drunken, happy night, which now sees any other events obscured in memory.

I was also happy that N_ somewhat accepted me as her sister’s ‘friend’.
