I’m the book on the shelf
The one you never read
Picked up once a year
But you put me back instead
I’m in the corner
Where you never delved
You put me here
Where I’ve been shelved

I like the originality in your response to the prompt – succinctly written and expressed – Jae

Too precious to let go, too intense to continue reading …
I love your poetry, nice work.

I enjoyed this revealing perspective as there millions of books around the world sitting on shelves more for show than for reading.

You’ve got me wondering if I wrote this about a specific book but it’s so long ago I don’t recall. I don’t remember having that many books back then though I did read a little bit.

Ohh, poor little book. Sadly, I think I might have one of those shelved and never read. Nice work!!!

I can see the damp spots on that poor, neglected book. Great poem, Shaun!
