Your trinkets, they light up my eyes,
gifts glowing through the smooth ice.
You open my world to all weather,
and guide me along every river.
Tethered to your familiar voice,
your songs, a loyal choir.
You carry my family‘s smiles,
and lift me when I am tired.
Amidst your million reminders,
you are my quiet conductor.
What would I hold without you?
In my hands, you are the truth.
Shared with dVerse MTB – couplets and half rhymes. The title is inspired by Aussie band God and their song ‘My Pal’ with the haunting line “You’re my only friend……and you don’t even like me.”
Today’s Daily Stoic poem:

Beautiful! I especially loved the ending.

it’s written with lovely devotion and is a great tribute to someone. Yes, I think it’s positive

Interesting. This write is much more metaphorical in nature.

i see, so are you writing about some higher power? Either way it’s a good tribute.

Hmm – I feel that this poem has missed its mark somehow. Though, I’m glad you like it 🙏

Sorry, if I didn’t get it. The quote from the song that I don’t know, was sad or maybe flip, but your words didn’t seem that way to me.

It’s ok, we all put what we read through own filters. Perhaps I was trying to be too clever, or obscure, with this one. I’m curious for other comments now!

Our creator has offered the essence of life through nature. Beautifully said, Shaun.

Unfortunately, this poem is a metaphor for something much more mundane and common to all humanity!

That’s what I love about poetry, Shaun. Each reader’s interpretation is what makes a poem special.

Reading the comments above I like how everyone’s intrepretation is different! I feel like this could be about birds or clouds, or the moon. HA!! Beautiful in its perception, and a true gift to write something so open that we can all find it as a gift to the one(s) we love. Great poem!

Shaun, my guess is that the truth gets you through?

Sure, but not the focus of this write…

It’s a little more sinister than that….

You carry my family‘s smiles,
Sinister and family’s smiles seem contradictory? Now you have me curious. Death? Memories? Inquiring minds want to know 😉
