The body fails us inch by inch, by year,
and we must hold each other gently.
Every day the news is worse than the last.
The dog still wants to play at noon.
We arrive alone and depart alone.
In between, sometimes someone saves us a seat.
The earth is burning, and no one will stop it,
so I'll teach the trees toward a sky I won't see.
All my best thoughts have already been thought.
Someone, somewhere, understood me.

Today’s Daily Stoic poem:

That’s a very beautiful, as well as down-to-earth, practical series of reframings. Seems to fit with a Stoic philosophy (from what little I know of that): not denying or minimising the bad stuff but finding the equally-true counter-balance.

Yes – things happen. It’s up to us to decide what is good and what is bad. Thanks Rosemary 🙏

A honest and reflective write – we can only hope that we can find someone to be with us, hold our hand and understand us once again (if only a little) – Jae

To be completely understood may be too much! A little is fine 👍

Dogs give the news the importance it deserves.
Much wisdom in the stoic poem too.

A reflective beautiful poem about the balance between realism and hope. I loved the line about someone saving us a seat.

One more beautiful poem Shaun.
More good thoughts to be thought in this lonely journey through the planet.

I think I exhausted myself on Friday as I was in the zone with the words. Haven’t written anything since!

We live in such times that even silver linings are ominous!
Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂 as for your comment the aka heart was more in tongue in cheek than actually explaining a metaphor

Yes, at the end of the day it’s that tiny morsel of hope that somebody understood our worth.
