ตามสบาย – 1st March 2025

I told her ‘It’s up to you’
She said ‘That’s damn right!’
Yet she knows not what to do
It’s always fight or flight

And so it was she ran
Too immature to explain
Until her awakening began
And she’s welcomed back again

A real conversation I had a couple of years ago with rebel student Feije, who subsequently left my school for elsewhere but I discovered yesterday that she will come back for grade 10. I liked her feistiness and stayed in occasional contact with her.

    1. These students remind me of myself at that age.

We’ve just this past week had junior high graduation (grades 7-9) and watching these kids grow over these three often traumatic years has really made me think about things a lot.

As I still identify with the rebellious types I connect with them much more than some of the studious kids. Those kids I can let them just get on with their studies. The rebels are the ones I’m trying to keep from killing themselves (either by accident or on purpose) and try to offer them a little light and direction.

It was very heartening to get messages from these graduates either apologising for their past behaviour or thanking me for giving them some support during tough times.
