Indigenous seeds refuse the plough
The dignity of labour takes a while
He digs a well from there to now
She digests history with a patient smile
A digitised map of looted art
She digs a moat of metaphor and stone
From indigent weeds, kingdoms start
Indignant empires overthrown
Written for dVerse Quadrille #246 – dig

You’ve packed a lot of history into 44 words!

Living on stolen land myself- this really hit me.. We have so many native Alaskans and they are not treated with the respect they and their history deserve.

It shouldn’t be that hard to treat everyone with the respect they deserve – especially as this is what most children are taught in school and by most religions…

So much history packed and dug up here, Shaun! I particularly like,
“He digs a well from there to now”–I’ve spent a lot of time in archives and reading history.

How cleverly you say it, Shaun, with rhyme and reason too! 🙂 Small starts whether in writing, planting or civilizational beginnings, lead to growth one way or another.

You really dug deep with this one, Shaun ! Everyone above have mentioned what I wanted to say.
But I want to add that I am delighted and impressed you used so many forms of ‘dig’. I totally dig that! 😄👍🏼

Thanks Punam 🙏 I got a list of words together to see where inspiration would take me. And here’s where I ended up!
