Walk Away – 25th March 1988

You say just walk away from this dilemma
Just remind me again, I can’t remember
But if I walk away, I won’t forget
And I just don’t know what I’m feeling yet

    1. Paying more attention to what I wrote here, I believe this poem relates to my first girlfriend Emma (note her name hidden in the first line), who cheated on me with her best friend. The feelings that did crystallise later was to only be attracted to non-blondes!

At the time of writing this poem, we did stay together for a few months longer but I could never forget her indiscretion and everything came tumbling down.

      Thanks for reading and commenting!

  1. I wish I could hug my teenage self after my first big heartbreak. It’s so hard to have a sense of perspective at that age. I’d probably tell her “Yeah, that world is over. But the good news is that there’s a new world just about to start… and that’s when things get really good.”
