Month: January 1985
*Ulterior Motive – Youth Club, Wimborne – 30th January 1985
The Cellar – 29th January 1985
It’s dark in the depths
Down in the pits
There is no light
And nothing that fits
The cellar is the place
Where I don’t want to go
There’s something down there
That I don’t wanna know
There’s something down there
That I don’t want to see
There’s something between us
The cellar and me
*Angels – 28th January 1985
Diana is divine
Katie is so clean
Claire is my sweet
Julie is so keen
Lovely angels, broken wings
No one told me of these things
Angela is my angel
Susan is my dream
Lisa is so lovely
But Jane just makes me scream
They’re my lovely angels, broken wings
Now I know of these things

9th Feb 2024 – An image of Ian jumped into my memory as I was writing this today. Yesterday I wasn’t even sure who he was! He was a Weebly-looking kid, a round body and round head, no neck and freckles. He certainly had the look of someone in the Navy.
29th January 1985

Arthur William James – 27th January 1985
No one knows who you are
No one knows who you were
You never got very far
Not til you met her
She gave you life when you were dead
She put new ideas into your head
You know she has her little games
But she’s the beast the master tames
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur William James
29th August 2023 – Unsure if this was inspired by a real person or not I did a search and found this website, which is a place where you CAN remember people!
*Lunatic Fringe, Haywire, Bad Noise, (General Belgrano and the 368) – Pembroke Arms, Westbourne, Bournemouth – 26th January 1985
Who Dares Wins – 25th January 1985
Go for it, go for gold
Don’t do what you’ve been told
Go for bust, it’s there to grab
Who dares wins so take a stab
Go all out, don’t play fair
Eventually, you’ll get there
Don’t be conscious of your sins
You know it’s true – who dares wins
Prisoner – 24th January 1985
We’re all prisoners to someone
No one has got their own keys
Sometimes someone will open the door
Sometimes they’ll lock you up to freeze
We’re all prisoners in our heads
Someone got the keys to our minds
If we don’t stand on our own two feet
Then they’ll break our spines
29th August 1985 – It’s interesting that I could be smart enough about this philosophical subject at 17 years old yet not quite smart enough to apply it to my life constantly at that time. I’m still writing similar words now, more than 30 years later, though hopefully a little more eloquently.
Revenge – 23rd January 1985
Someone’s gonna get you back
You can be sure of that
It’s not in our nature to forgive
Revenge is for us to give
Dinosaur – 22nd January 1985
You’re so old and tired
Why don’t you just give in
You’re on your way to checking out
You’re only just living
You’re the oldest thing I ever saw
You were a friend of a dinosaur
