I am so happy and grateful that the internet people can come and fix our internet so quickly after I accidentally cut our cable when clipping things down in our garden. I am ok without the internet but it does make me realise just how much we use it in our day-to-day lives.

We got that attitude! – 19th April 2021
I am so happy and grateful that today I can go out and buy coffee at Utopia – takeaway only. Usually, I would go there every day when on holiday but due to our home quarantine we’ve been going out as little as possible. No instant coffee for me this morning.

I am so happy and grateful to visit Amy’s mum and dad last night – even though I was tired and concerned that we had sick Kim Chi with us it was good to get out of home and especially good to see her grandmum looking well.
They are building a karaoke/entertainment room and a new garage so it looks like a lot of changes going on there.

I am so happy and grateful that Kim Chi seems finally to be getting over her cold. It had me worried for a while that it was something more serious – she wasn’t eating because she couldn’t smell and not sleeping well because she couldn’t breathe. Usually, she is crazy and playful but this time she was quiet and docile. Thankfully she seems to be slowly recovering.

I am so happy and grateful for this crazy book ‘The Infinite Jest’ I have no idea what is going on but finding it very readable. The writing really digs down into the way the mind thinks so it’s easy to empathise with the characters. It’s a challenging read but ultimately becoming a favourite. And I’m grateful for the online Lit Notes that can help me understand it more.
4th June 2023 – I was also reading other things but it took me around 18 months to finish reading this. I also wanted to immediately start reading it again!

I am so happy and grateful for this light breeze pushing air through the house. It’s hot and sticky and this breeze feels deliciously cool.
The Art of Noticing Chairs – 14th April 2021
Inspired by the email newsletter from Rob Walker I’ve been trying to take notice of simple and mundane things. A nice practice to remind oneself that everything is now.
This first post is chairs. This was pretty easy – it’s actually the second thing I chose to start noticing but completed (finding 10 items) first. I’ll post more of these as they are completed, which may be a while as we are back in a lockdown situation again due to the rising number of cases of Covid 19 across Thailand.

Gratitude Journal
I am so happy and grateful that we have a car and that we can take Kim back to the vet this morning as she isn’t recovering from a cold and can’t breathe properly. It’s lockdown time and we’re a little worried to go out but at least this negative aspect gets us out of the house briefly. So somewhat grateful for this trying time.
A beautiful sleep last night, with the windows open and a fan sucking in the cool air, sourced from a thunderstorm that slowly developed over the mountains and brought us some rain, not too much but steady and nutritious for our plants. Dosing off to departing claps of thunder was soothing and restful.
I felt slightly tired and anxious yesterday, for no particular reason at all and today is the opposite, for no particular reason too.
Everything I do makes me happy.
We got that attitude! – 13th April 2021
I am so happy and grateful that I have so many TV shows and movies saved that I can watch anything I want, whenever I want. Last night I started watching The Deuce which is really good.
Our trip worked out spectacularly timing-wise as the day we got back Thailand announced a lockdown (of sorts) so we are back now and quarantining ourselves as much as we can, which means I’m struggling through on instant coffee.
I made cannabutter yesterday and today Amy baked brownies, of which I ate one, and I’m pretty happy and high at the moment.
Got to get my sheets off the line – had to wash everything as I’m sleeping in the bedroom where the aircon is out of order, so before it cools down early in the mornings, I’m sweating out and soaking the sheets. I hope someone can come and fix that aircon soon, though I can make it through with just the fan and window open.

I am so happy and grateful to Matt who gave me a big bunch of weed that his father-in-law had grown. Yesterday I baked it and today made cannabutter. Let’s see how it turns out. We have a lot of weed left too and though it’s sitting there I don’t feel compelled to have a quick smoke.

I am so happy and grateful for all the pictures I have taken over the years. They are a nightmare to keep track of, organised and backed up but actually, it seems to suit my temperament as I enjoy putting things in order. Looking through the pictures reminds me of all the things I’ve done in my life. What a trip!
