Confession – 21st June 2025

Shared with W3 prompt #164 – a quadrille about ‘what remains’.

fragmented relics

fragments of ideas

lingering residue ~~~

the vestige of tears

echoessssssssssssssssssss

in
the
ruins

traumatic legacies

subtle traces of violent histories

struggling narratives

lurch

onward defiant

transforming grief

tilling new soils,
self-reliant

seeds resown,

persistent

defying oppression

~ every accusation points towards a confession ~

Those words really land with me, Shaun…

They feel like a quiet anthem of survival. I’d say there’s a fierce dignity pulsing through this piece of yours ❤

    Much love,
    David

  2. I like the way you used visual layout to to echo the fragmentation your poem evokes. And I have huge respect for the way it trips off the tongue so fluently as well. It’s rare to come across a concrete poetry/shaped verse that works acoustically as well as visually. It was especially effective as I spoke into the elongation of “echoes”: it was like a scream stretched into silence. Then your final line reframes everything: relic becomes reckoning. Bravo.
