You had me with the first line!!! FABULOUS write! And actually, you’ve nailed this new generation in terms of stereotyping them as we have done past generations. Speaking as a bonafide member of the Baby Boomers generation, each has its own foibles. Sadly, I feel like my generation is leaving future generations in a bind with this administration. We’d come so far with environmental protection, vaccine efficacy, global partnerships that were saving lives of the starving abroad, using farm surpluses to feed kids in schools in terms of before and after programs – and also adding food to food pantrys….and somehow too many believed the lies and fell for the fear that #47 peddled and here we are. Hah! You see, that’s the mark of a good writer when s/he can get their readers to reflect and think on from the poem! Well done!
Not sure about the connections with the current US administration, I think it’s been going on a lot longer. I’m not there though.
My nailing the new generation comes teaching teens in Thailand. I try to stay positive. It’s only natural that us old folks don’t ‘get’ what they are going through and think that our way is better. I try to consider that if everyone is undergoing the same transformations then they’ll be able to compete with their peers in the future.
