seit dem kindergarten
unser alltag
gemeinsamer
kopf voller träume
offen
zum lernen
hand in hand
wir verlassen
den platz
und tragen unsere zukunft
in unseren herzen
gebildet
An up-and-down cherita for dVerse’s MTB and inspired by the attached picture. I used Google Translate to arrive at the German. I have no idea how poetic it might sound in that language – any tips appreciated. Here’s the original English write:
since kindergarten
our routine
together
head full of dreams
open
to learning
hand in hand
leaving
the square
carrying the future
in our hearts
educated

This is a heartwarming poem

Neither am I, but this situation in Gaza colors my thoughts.

I love how the ‘hand in hand’, which is the same in German and English, is pretty much in the middle of your cherita, Shaun, and how the poem turns on that line.

I don’t know German, so I can’t comment on that. But well done with the double cherita.
I like:
“carrying the future
in our hearts
educated”
I wish more people felt that now.

Good ekphrastic cherita. A blessing to have a friend in kindergarten and all the way through.

A sweetly nostalgic and hopeful account! With my schoolgirl German, I think pretty much anything sounds heavily portentous in German, including this translation. But, that’s OK; such a tone could also fit the subject matter well.
