The Defeat Of Death – 23rd March 2025
Clear night skies, a sparkling sight
A light for everyone who ever died
Some close enough to still touch
Their echoes may whisper guide
Staring up at the never-dead
Scattered across the infinite wide
All of our art has defeated death
To shine over the earthly divide
Princes And Paupers – 22nd March 2025
The deceiver always finds someone
ready to be deceived
A simple search of the horizons
sees him soon received
The believer, in contrast, finds
new lies to be believed
That all fall in line with that
which is already perceived
New World Disorder – 21st March 2025
Welcome to the New World Disorder
At the breaking of every day
As the world was getting smaller
New rules came into play
Disorder was now called order
And looking down was looking up
Friends were stopped at the border
Running on fumes and out of luck
In a tremendous, TREMENDOUS irony
Some folks got what they deserved
While thinking they were running free
The cave wall was all they observed
Welcome to the New World Disorder
Where the breakdown has begun
Even the most radical supporter
Sees it all coming undone
Remember – the USA is NOT the world! The rest of the world is the global majority.
Double Six – 20th March 2025
It was the land of the lucky that so inspired,
a roll of the dice was all that was required;
All allowed to play, starting with an even field,
it was the illusion of choice that so appealed.
As the game was begun, so the landlords arose
sucking the life out of all those who oppose,
then the banks took control of all society
and this game of life became a monopoly.

Get Going – 19th March 2025
Mr Parkinson has got an arbitrary timeline
Let’s get going and let’s get it done
No tapping of heels or waiting at the stop sign
Let’s get going before the others have begun
You know what to do. Get going.
Near Misses – 18th March 2025
The second you, that other you,
in a parallel universe,
where fates reverse, outcomes upturn
The one where she left;
The one where you crashed;
The land of no more near misses
In an instant, they merge
and disappear,
a bright light of luck burned out
ICU – 17th March 2025
I see you and you see me, it’s true
we can see each other’s point of view
My black and your white may paint us grey
but we’ll not let that poison the day
Open up and bleed, so exposing
slowly, ideas of one’s proposing
made to each other, so listen well
to the stories we’re designed to tell
Ending gracefully after a spell
Both forgiven at each hurdle fell
When let down, we’re sure to be gentle
Our broken hearts never judgmental
Suffering together, pain is shared
Gather and embrace so none left scared
Concrete actions for community
It’s true, I see you and you see me

The Fear Of Freedom – 16th March 2025
A paranoia that’s well-earned
Too many times fingers burned
A back stabbed by an active mind
Fears the freedom it has defined
Scared to step out of the light
Shadows whisper late at night
Whips and cracks echo the fear
That freedom is not present here
When they are us and we are them
And together we each condemn
Each other, our freedom’s clear
Surrendered ourselves to fear
Inspired by a short piece by Ryan Holiday
Sinking Sands – 15th March 2025

Washed up on the sandy shore, I am the debris
of all the bad decisions made with certainty;
it seems I’m not done, up ahead, the paths to choose;
so many losses to come, so much more to lose.
For every adventure approached at full throttle,
all ended the same, clutching an empty bottle;
last night’s enlightenment sought to confuse;
so many losses to come, so much more to lose.
In pursuit of fun, all the wasted time I spent
losing myself in dreams and repeated lament;
here I go again, sober and set to abuse;
so many losses to come, so much more to lose.
A 12-syllable Complaint shared with dVerse and No Theme Thursday picture prompt. The refrain was inspired and paraphrased from this post at Tiny Hearts, though I’m not sure exactly who originally penned it.
