We got that attitude! – 13th April 2021

I am so happy and grateful that I have so many TV shows and movies saved that I can watch anything I want, whenever I want. Last night I started watching The Deuce which is really good.

Our trip worked out spectacularly timing-wise as the day we got back Thailand announced a lockdown (of sorts) so we are back now and quarantining ourselves as much as we can, which means I’m struggling through on instant coffee.

I made cannabutter yesterday and today Amy baked brownies, of which I ate one, and I’m pretty happy and high at the moment.

Got to get my sheets off the line – had to wash everything as I’m sleeping in the bedroom where the aircon is out of order, so before it cools down early in the mornings, I’m sweating out and soaking the sheets. I hope someone can come and fix that aircon soon, though I can make it through with just the fan and window open.

Gratitude Journal

I am so happy and grateful for the fan in our bedroom last night. Our aircon stopped working so all we had was the fan. Luckily it was enough and even I woke up feeling cold. Without it though would have been very uncomfortable. That fan will have more work to do as we don’t know when we can get the aircon fixed.

Today was a good day. I felt calm and enjoyed being at school even with not many other people around. Champ complimented me on my lesson plans today too – it’s nice to get some positive feedback on your work.

I also found out that next semester I will be teaching the same classes as this semester. That’s kind of nice though I may have to find new approaches to the two classes who are not so good. Anyway, it’s a good challenge.

Tomorrow is our last day for a month and I’m looking forward to this time off.

We got that attitude!- 23rd March 2021

I have probably said it many times already but the time has come again to be so happy and grateful for the aircon in our house. It seemed to have come on late but suddenly this year. It gets so comfortable in an airconned room that there is a dread to leave, even if only to drink some water or go to the bathroom.

Today is First and JJ’s last day at school – although JJ may come back as a full-time teacher next year. I gave them, and Am and Tee, the cards that I had made for them as going away presents. I hope they got something out of them.

I completed a drawing for Mei at House which I think came out well and started another of Amy and Grace that should come out ok.

When I got home, after it cooled down a bit, I moved all the rocks that Amy wanted for her cactus garden at the front of the cafe/teaching room. We then both weeded the stalks of grass growing through the remaining rocks. It felt good to do this together.

I’m super tired now – mostly because I woke up in the middle of last night thinking too much about the way George has been treating me. I spend too much time, wasting too much time thinking about that stupid guy – why? I know that I cant control the way he acts so why do I let it bother me? Again, proximity plays a role as we have to sit next to each other every day for five days a week. I’ll get over it.

We got that attitude! – 5th June 2020

I am so happy and grateful to be able to drive the truck today. I can see the traffic coming now.

To-do list

  • Savour something ✅
  • Perform a random act of kindness
  • Smile and think positive wishes ½
  • Compliment everyone about anything ½
  • No negative jokes ½
  • Go to Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn ✅

Another very chill and relaxed day with no work to do. Getting paid for a full month was a fabulous bonus too. I was so happy that I hung out in my room pottering and reading and just feeling great in general.

Amy is really happy at the moment too. What she has done with the entertainment area has really pleased us both. Our house is getting even more like a home. I love it here so much.

It’s hot again and drops of sweat are blurring the pages as I write. Thanks for aircon!

We got that attitude! – 4th June 2020

I am so happy and grateful to be able to sit in this teachers room with aircon and share time happily with other teachers.

To-do list

  • RAK, savour, smile, compliment, positive – these should be priorities ½
  • Can you connect more? ½
  • Practice your listening with follow-up questions
  • Don’t put down other people’s ideas ½
  • Don’t say anything perceived as negative ½

Today could just as well have been a holiday as George, Dylan and I did no work at all. We spent an hour and a half for coffee in the morning, an hour for lunch and an hour for coffee in the afternoon. Apart from that we watched videos and read articles or listened to podcasts. I felt very much at ease today, compared with earlier in the week.

I need to keep working on these points about savouring, compliments, thinking positively towards myself and others, smiling and RAK. I also want to improve on not saying anything negative in a jokey way. I think I can boil my tasks down to just improving these things each day.
