Honesty On Stage – 14th December 2025

Dreams

shape reality.

Stories need people,

the weavers of words;

the satisfaction with joyous ending?

Rising curtains, actors playing people, real

royalty and fakers, forging fortune for applause.

Bright lights shine, eyes glittery, all silvery struck.

So, stage mirrors life stories, untold, often repeated, become

so
real?

The
mask,
the
role,
mask
the
real.

So

become repeated often, untold stories. Life mirrors stage, so

struck silvery, all glittery eyes shine, lights bright;

applause for fortune forging fakers and royalty!

Real people playing actors? Curtains rising,

ending joyous with satisfaction. The

words of weavers. The

people need stories.

Reality shapes

dreams.

What a headache! A palindrome poem that is almost a double etheree. I gave up at the tenth line and had to enlist AI to give me ideas to connect the two etherees. It kinda works. I think the theme here is apparent but due to the structure of the palindrome, the specifics are a little bit lost. Does the formatting help or hinder?
This poem was prompt #10 for the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt, which I’m slowly working my way through. No more palindromes for me!

Tiny Town – 27th November 2025

This is the town that time forgot,
and GPS no longer works;
The place that never moved forward;
residents full of quacks and quirks.

Within its limits, you are cornered;
this is the town that time forgot;
With its rituals, no one questions;
this is a map without a dot.

Roads that leave town are suggestions,
the words are full of many paths;
This is the town that time forgot;
always the same in photographs.

Rare visitors soon lose the plot;
the centre is just out of shot;
One day, its history just stopped;
this is the town that time forgot.

Written for the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt:
write a Quatern with a Chain Rhyme.

Stone The Crows – 6th October 2025

Save your scratch in a small vase

Paris, they say, is better in pairs

Arcs of triumph encircled by cars

Scare the children, and no one cares

State your case to the makers of taste
The eyes on you and me, they see

Heats the spring into summer’s haste

Ate alfresco with a steeping tea

Cider salted by the tears we cried

Peach perfume bought on the cheap
Tired of all the cobbled streets tried

Peek at all these secrets to keep

Rat rummaged garbage made art
Night is made of stuff and thing

Earth must reveal its true heart
Sign the road along where angels sing

Atoms burn bridges over the moats

Stone the crows, we’re taking notes

Written for prompt #7 at the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt:
An (extended) shadow sonnet, where the shadow words are anagrammatical (because, why make it easy?)! This took a long time, even with help from AI to find the anagrams that may also rhyme. This is also why it is extended, as I couldn’t figure out what to trim after all that effort. Did my ideas translate well enough through all the restrictions?

Full Circle – 15th September 2025

Written for prompt #6 at the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt:
Write a Loop Poem that is also a Shape Poem.
2nd Nov 2025 – Shared with What’s Going On

<< everything within spins out

out towards the wild

wild without any doubt

doubt reveals the child

child born of emotion

emotion, twists and turns

turns to those with wisdom

wisdom wisely learns

learns to look within

within the worlds we sing

sing as new lives begin

begin with everything >>

Reflected Lanturne – 30th August 2025

Seen
Been there

Green grass trim

Clean and tidy

Lean on me until

Seen

Gone
From me
One step back
On your way to
Con another ’til
Gone

Said

Led on

Dread the past

Fled the future

Dead now, it has been

Said

Free
Be seen

Be gone too

Be said and done

See it through until

Free

seen
there been
trim grass green
tidy and clean
until me on lean
seen

gone
me from
back step one
to way your on
’til another con
gone

said
on led
past the dread
future the fled
been has it now, dead
said

free
seen be
too gone be
done and said be
until through it see
free

Inspired by the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt prompt #4:
write a Lanturne with a Head Rhyme.

The reflected rhyme doesn’t quite work but I think it’s quite a nice result.

40 Years – 12th June 2025

every day, no meat
it’s been this way 40 years
so much more to eat

every day we meet
for breakfast, lunch and dinner
every day no meat

a challenge to others’ fears
young and old alike
it’s been this way 40 years

a life still complete
without the death and killing
so much more to eat

A cascade poem using the haiku form (stanza 3 made inside out) as prompted at the Chimeric Poetry Scavenger Hunt: and shared with Poets and Storytellers United #180: Stubborn About the Small Things
