Gratitude Journal

I am so happy and grateful to my friend Kimi who unexpectedly passed away this morning. He was a good man and I loved him very much. I will miss him.

To-do list

  • Get out of this funk
  • Upload and record TCRAH
  • Find opportunity for acts of kindness
  • Case CDs
  • Try longer meditation

Unfortunately, today got worse as I found out my great friend Kimi passed away. I’m shocked and devastated. Despite living in different countries we have remained close since meeting and I always with or visited him when I was in KL. I can’t believe he’s gone.

I didn’t want to do anything except be by myself.

On top of this, the grandfather of the village family also passed away today and we had to help them too. So it’s been an awful couple of days and going back to school on Monday will be a challenge.

Lái – Demo – 4th July 2019

Cat #: 200TZM

Lái play Swedish influenced fast paced raging d-beat punk that propels the ferocious vocals right into the face of the listener. Vocalist Alda’s lyrics engage with voices that explore politics, religion, feminism and queer rights in South East Asia and the diaspora. Vocals are deliveried in both Bahasa Indonesian and English and the band name is taken from the Chinese Mandarin phrase meaning ‘to come/next.’ Lái invoke these diasporic identities and themes through punk, mixing ideas and personal experiences that often inter-connect but also continue to conflict in the world around us.

For fans of Totalitar & G.L.O.S.S., featuring members of Pisschrist, Extinct Exist, Masses, Ubik & Occult Blood. First released as a limited run of 100 cassettes in August 17th 2018 on Lost in Fog Records.

These Visions – 19th February 1988

You’re sitting at home
These visions in your head
You’re all alone
With your mind just full of dread
You start to wonder
Why it’s like it was before
You’re going under
In your own personal war

All you’ve got are these memories
Repeated visions of what you’ve done
I can’t help you if you’re not telling me
You start to wonder where it’s all gone

Depressing your ego
With visions of the past
You won’t let me go
And that’s all I ask
Your time’s been wasted
Trying to repeat all the good times
It’s me that you hated
But you kept ignoring all the signs

All you’ve got are these twisted visions
Repetition, repetition of what you’ve done
I can’t help you make your decision
Strange to be nostalgic when you’re only 21*

*lifted word for word from the Partisans ‘Only 21’ – because it’s a great line!

Easy Prey – 18th January 1988

See them drinking at the bar
Standing there and acting hard
Muscles bulging under leather
Smashing glasses and heads together

Sitting quietly at a corner table
Tied to my drink like a dog to a kennel
Watching all the people walking by
Looking from the corner of my eye

A brawl ensues over who owns the girl
Just take her away and leave me alone
I’m not man enough for your brutal world
Just an easy prey when I’m on my own

Fucking up my drunken night
See a shrimp and start a fight
Your girls laughing at me
Only came for the booze
Nothing else to do
No one else to go and see
