When I were a lad….as in my profile picture…my best friends were a mod, a new romantic, a greebo (look it up), a skinhead and various other motley crews…we loved each other and hated each other’s musical interests. The first Specials album, the first Jam albums, the first Crass albums, the first Iron Maiden albums, the first Slits, first Cardiacs etcetc – they were “punk rock to me, Mr Narrator”. I sincerely hope that every generation since feels the same whether it is Less Than Jake, Skrillex, Blink 182 or something I’m too uncool to be in the loop for.

Overheard at a comic book store in Newtown yesterday, between the clerk and his friend, “Guys want to punch on in clubs when you check out their girlfriends. They dress like sluts, what do they expect?” Words to that effect. Walked out, won’t return.

Today I took our leftover food to a group of homeless guys in Belmore Park where one offered thanks and another cheekily asked how they were going to reheat it.
Later we had some more food that was used for menu photos and was left over. There was another homeless guy crashed out around the corner so he ended with a nice eggs benedict on toast. I said I’d help him out if he was around and if I had the chance. He requested assistance with a wife and house. Cheeky fuck.
Apparently, it’s something or other ‘week’ ie help someone in need or some such. But what about the rest of the time?

11th Jul 2025 – The keyboard, which I ‘inherited’ from my uncle-in-law, ended up with Naked On The Vague but I don’t think they ended up using it for any recordings. It was a bit complicated and had a freaking huge manual.

11 Jul 2009 – Hayden was living with his mum in Brisbane at this time and would fly down every two weeks to stay with me. He’d racked up more flights than me by this time and he was only 12 or 13 years old.
