Every businessman woke that morning
Packed their lunches without warning
And hurried off to catch the train
Brollies up to shield the rain
The first popped off on the 091
Then another on the Glasgow run
And over a thousand had gone
The morning the apples turned to poison
Breakfast over in more ways than one
For others, their fate would come
The tragedy struck all but some
The day the apples turned to poison
At twelve-thirty the lunch bells rung
Time to laugh and have some fun
But it happened to old and young
The day the apples turned to poison
Death came quickly, too slow for some
Nearly everyone had succumb
To the fate that had to happen
The day the apples turned to poison
7th February 2024 – This was actually written on the 15th of January 1985. As I didn’t date anything I wrote back around this time, I was just taking a guess at the dates and publishing as one per day but usually, I wrote them in batches.
