You say just walk away from this dilemma
Just remind me again, I can’t remember
But if I walk away, I won’t forget
And I just don’t know what I’m feeling yet
18th Oct 2024 – Shared with Poets and Storytellers United – walking away

Just know that you must walk. The feelings will crystallise later.

Paying more attention to what I wrote here, I believe this poem relates to my first girlfriend Emma (note her name hidden in the first line), who cheated on me with her best friend. The feelings that did crystallise later was to only be attracted to non-blondes!
At the time of writing this poem, we did stay together for a few months longer but I could never forget her indiscretion and everything came tumbling down.
Thanks for reading and commenting!

Our instincts lead the way…the words to explain them come later, perhaps… !

Dumb teenage boy instincts! I wouldn’t even be able to explain things for another 15 years or so! 🤣
Thanks for your comment 🙏

Yes, a few things we wrote back then were quite good!

You evoke so clearly a place we’ve perhaps all been in – if not the same details, similar feelings.

I wish I could hug my teenage self after my first big heartbreak. It’s so hard to have a sense of perspective at that age. I’d probably tell her “Yeah, that world is over. But the good news is that there’s a new world just about to start… and that’s when things get really good.”

I’d like to slap my teenage self – quite a few times! However, knowing myself, it wouldn’t have made any difference.

this seems like a paradoxical situation where you won’t let go if you walk away, nice play with words
