I lost my mother
When the screaming seagulls fell
Our house now a mausoleum
–
Rebuilding a life
A family of my own
Will be my only revenge

Very true. They want to wipe out the whole race of Palestinians. They lament about the holocaust, and this is no less and no different. Even more brutal as they are doing it under the watching eyes of the world.

Poor kid! That’s modern war for you though. The fighting men kill babies and run. The defending forces blow up primary schools. There’s no fair fighting among men who’ve agreed to take their chances.

“screaming seagulls” – What a powerful metaphor! My heart breaks for all those who are suffering. Great poem, Shaun.

Thanks Yvette. If only the metaphor wasn’t needed.
