First Fool’s Thaw – 2nd April 2026

Here it comes again –
the quiet stirrings of spring.
A single wasp wakes.
But then the winds shift once more,
cold snap returns a shiver.

Today’s Daily Stoic poem:

Be Wary Of What You Let In

The bustle of madness seeps into any crack
Of the bubbles that we build
The uninvited must always get pushed back
With the knowledge we have instilled

    1. I must admit that I’m going from memory. Here in Thailand winter is spring and rainy season is summer. It is technically summer here now, which is just disgustingly hot and humid with putrid polluted air.

  1. Shaun, the image of the wasp waking really stood out for me. It’s the sort of image that’s at the core of your best work. It also reminds me to go and check the usual spot below the eaves — and turf out my seasonal visitors before they get established.
