Seaworthy and Hinterlandt (Vivid) – 7th June 2012

21st May 2021 – If memory serves me correctly, and it may not, and Jochen may be able to verify, but I’m pretty sure I picked him up and drove him and his one man band to this show. Put on as part of the annual Vivid Festival (festival of light, right?) at a small art gallery at the Rocks it was pretty much the perfect place for these two musicians. It was a nice relaxing evening and I remember chatting with Dimity (who took the attached photos and posted to her blog.) Jochen played first and afterwards we chatted about hardcore as he was drinking some red wine, myself Coopers Red and then watch Cam (Seaworthy) play. I like the Rocks at night time – you can feel the history there. This night made a minor addition to that history.

Hacks – 16th May 2012

Hacks exist for brief moments in time on the Sydney underground landscape and during one of of those moments they managed to record these 4 tracks and play a few shows that suitably impressed tenzenmen with their drunken swagger of improvised rock. 

Tape and/or CD versions coming sometime when Hacks have been located in the vicinity again.

Torturing Nurse – Survive/Life – 20th April 2012

At the end of 2011 contact was made with specialist lathe press label Bubutz Records in Italy to issue a Torturing Nurse recording on one-sided clear vinyl with a light wooden back. The process was derailed slightly as the very hard highband frequencies supplied by Torturing Nurse were damaging the cutting system! The initial run of 30 was reduced to just the 9 requested by Torturing Nurse and tenzenmen as Bubutz didn’t want to risk any further damage to their equipment! 

Update 23/9/2012: New versions now available but very limited due to the high cost involved in manufacture. These items made in the USA and only 2 copies of each were ever produced.

Bikini Eyebolt (Jace from DEAD, guitar and vocals) existed in Melbourne from 2007 – 2008. They sound a bit like Wire with East Bay Ray accidently walking into the wrong rehearsal room with a touch of 90’s Am-Rep scuzz. Like a bloody good pop record, with lots of good hooks and nifty ideas but nothing like the condescending fake Gang of Four rubbish you’ve been exposed to of late by the likes of Bloc Party. Or do you actually like the Arctic Monkeys? The band broke up too soon but recorded one album, it deserves a listen.

22nd Mar 2023 – It was a real pleasure to put together this series of tapes with friends new and old from around the world. Of the three this is probably my favourite – it is brutal and reminds me of my early discovery of Violent Onsen Geisha’s Excrete Music CD.
